Since 2004, Riverfolk Music and Arts Organization has existed in Manchester to engage the community in music and arts experiences which nurture creativity and promote cultural diversity. We have accomplished this with the Riverfolk Festival 2001-2012, Manchester Gazebo Concerts, Cultural Art Strings youth string education, and most recently The Blacksmith Shop Concert Series-a small intimate series dedicated to presenting the finest regional musicians combined with a sampling of local food and drink. The purpose of the series is to bring more people to Manchester thereby positively affecting the economic activity of the area
Mark Palms, educator and musician taught himself to play fiddle, banjo and accordion. He founded the award winning string band The Raisin Pickers and more recently the Cajun group, Creole du Nord. Mark continues to honor the legacy of traditional masters, sharing what he’s learned at festivals, concerts and camps. Mark and Carol founded the Riverfolk Festival in 2001 and the nonprofit Riverfolk Music and Arts Organization in 2004. Mark currently serves as the Riverfolk Board Chair.
